In my free time, I apply what I've learned to create better experiences in areas I think could use improvement.
Hello! My name is Arturo Barrios and I enjoy coming up with and creating things. My interests with development started back in 2013 when I took an interest in creating games with Java and then Unity. That landed me my first job at a digital agency startup The Plan Works where I became more familiar with building and maintaining web and mobile apps.
While studying at The Ohio State University, I became interested in AI and its application in grading the difficulty of piano music. Knowing very little about music and finding that limited data existed on this concept, I created a repository of data under the guidance of Dr. Shanahan. This repository was for training a model to predict the difficulty of music pieces. If I have more time later on, I might revisit this project because I truly believe it could be helpful for students wanting to quickly and accurately determine which piece to play next.
Today, when I'm not at my 9-5 at Fahlgren Mortine, a digital agency in Columbus Ohio, helping with websites and other applications, I spend my time working on an app that aims to improve the quality and access to soccer for players who might not have the resources or time to commit to more competitive programs like expensive academies, high school teams, or recreational leagues. I'm passionate about creating opportunities for everyone to enjoy the game!
